At the beginning of September, we presented in a series of webinars hosted by our partners LEAP Australia. These webinars introduced the ways Monash Motorsport use ANSYS Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to design the best possible parts and systems for our car each year.

Seven of our team members worked incredibly hard in the month leading up to the event, organising the presentations. We had representation from our Aerodynamics, Chassis and Suspension sections, explaining the rationale behind parts including the front and rear wings, rear bulkhead and upright, as well as how parts can be simulated together to get a comprehensive model of key assemblies in the car.

The webinars were presented twice each, with over two hundred people from around the world tuning into our presentations. Afterwards we provided help and advice on challenges other teams were facing in the design of their own cars.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank LEAP Australia for their continued support over the years. Their Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software is an indispensable part of our design process and we would not be to perform at our current level without their contributions.

If you missed out on the live presentation, don’t worry! You can view the recordings by following the links here (FEA) and here (CFD). Any additional queries regarding the content can be addressed to the Monash Motorsport Facebook page.
