ZF Site Tour

As part of our ongoing relationship with ZF, Monash Motorsport was lucky enough to be invited for a tour of the ZF Factory in Schweinfurt, Germany. This was an amazing opportunity for the 13 excited team members who were able to attend. On the day we were greeted with a presentation on the history of ZF and its most successful innovations.

Our first stop was ZF Race Engineering. Here we learnt about the company’s involvement in professional motorsport series such as Formula 1 and DTM. It was fascinating to see the incredibly lightweight and powerful dampers and clutches developed by ZF Race Engineering and to see the workshop where they are assembled and tested.

In the afternoon, we were taken to the Development Center where we had a guided tour on the Test Engineering Technology. Here we saw their damper dynamometers including a four post rig for testing full sized cars. We were also able to see how they test their clutches for passenger car and commercial vehicle applications using a full room engine dyno with fly wheels and torque converters that can replicate actual driving conditions. It was awe-inspiring to say the least.

One of the highlights of the day was the incredible hospitality of the ZF staff. We were treated to a delicious lunch and were encouraged to ask as many questions as we wanted which were answered with patience and detail.

ZF is an incredible partner of our team, offering both financial support and outstanding technical advice. Our relationship has been invaluable and we hope that it will continue to grow stronger into the future.
